Of all of the classes I’ve taken in college so far, I haven’t ever done as much work in a class as I have for Writing Design Concepts. WDC is an advertising class that deals with all things ad; from copywriting, to research, to actual ad execution, in this class we did it all. Our final project for WDC was to make a brand book for a brand of our choosing, compiling all of the work that we completed over the term. I chose the brand Alexia, a brand that manufactures frozen potato and sweet potato products.
This assignment was a heavy one that forced me to step outside of my comfort zone on numerous occasions. Doing strategic analyses and copywriting were two of the most difficult parts of this assignment for me, but I definitely learned a lot from these tasks (including the fact that I don’t foresee myself specializing in either of these areas!).
